I would definitely go with a newer head - those external oilers are PITA, and getting rid of them is worth it.
In this particular case, a '92 900S would yield a 2.1l head, and give you slightly lower compressor and bigger valves. Make sure you grab the intake manifold, too, for larger intake runners and correct port matching. You'll need the fuel rail as well (so you get a 3.0bar regulator in the process, too!).
