the posts i've read telling people to leave it alone are usually referring to people who want to upgrade their gearbox oil to fix a problem. that does no good. but if you have really old oil, say 60-100k old, the oil should be changed. Its not that hard to change. If the oil you drain looks like gray watery crap, you might have some luck with an oil change. worth a shot. i fixed a chain whirring noise my 5 sp had by changing really old oil. don't worry about fancy transmission oils, just use 10-30 synthetic. or 10-30 synthetic blend. that's what the Saab manual calls for.
