Greetings,
Whoa, have I learned my lesson on this one. While doing a routine oil change I over-tightened my oil drain plug and created three hair-line cracks in my transmission at the drain plug area.
I've thoroughly drained and cleaned the area where the transmission is cracked. I've added lots of JB Weld to the area (about 4 layers) and have let it sit for nearly a week. Today, I sanded the area where the drain plug washer touches (with 200 grit sand paper on a sanding block) and screwed in the washer and drain plug, all the while being careful not to over-tighten. I used a small 13mm wrench. I then poured a quart of oil in the motor and noticed a small amount of oil leaking out through the washer.
So, I need your expertise on this one. Here are some options I thought through but I'm VERY open to other options you might have.
A.) Purchase a 'Fram Sure Drain Oil Change System.' I would JB Weld and silicone (ulta-black silicone) the male end into the case.

B.) Silicone the existing washer and drain plug into the case and cover the entire area with JB Weld. To change oil I'd need to 'siphon' out the oil from the dipstick area.
Now, here is the real question, aside from the issue I raised above:
Do you feel that the JB Weld will hold on the transmission case once it's hot, or in your experience do you feel that in the end the hairline cracks will break the weld?
Thanks in advance!
