I did a conversion from an 8 valve turbo to 16 valve turbo back in about 2001. Very simple swap, just keep all of the 8V fuel injection stuff and sensors and swap them on to the 16V motor. You also need to fabricate brackets to support the fuel injectors and a couple of sensors, this is a little fiddly as it requires modifying (cutting and welding)the 8V injector holders by widening them and adding an extra length of tube to mount the CIS injectors in to. You will need a few 8V rubber injector seals here push inside the tubes. Hope this makes sense, here are a few pics of my 16V turbo engine in my old 8V car. You should be able to see the brackets and injector tubes etc.
