yes remove the negative clamp from the battery first
then the yellow wire from the starter solinoid unplugs.
then a 13mm to remove the red wire from the solinoid, two wires actually, one from the battery and the other from the alternator, usually a washer to two in there and a three sided spacer too, don't drop anybody.
the two bolts into the block at the rear of the starter have usually been 12 mm heads and I remove them from there and leave the bracket attached. you can get to them with a six point 12mm 3/8" drive socket with a 6 or 8 inch extension.
the two bolts at the clutch cover are 17,18, or 19 mm (some are different) and I just bend the plastic clutch over with a large screwdriver and insert a combination wrench in there, and then use a socket or swivel socket wrench on the nut side and remove them, moving from one to the other. I leave the bolt in place.
the starter is now free to remove. turbo engines are easier, drop the bracket side down as you pull towards the winshield, it will come out and you will find that putting it back in place will be 2x easier than removal, never fingured out why that is...
