I do agree - to a point. It's fairly difficult to find a 16x7" wheel with a 4x108 bolt pattern and a proper offset. That's actually what I was looking for when I found these ICW wheels, but after two months of searching I gave up.
These are 17x7s with a 4x108 and a perfect +38mm offset. They fit like they were made for the car. Topline supplied the stud conversion kit and hub-centric adapters. If I could find the right 16x7s I'd switch, but I do not want to put a set of 24lb 16x6.5 Aeros or Super Aeros on the car. Too heavy for the performance they offer. Even these cheapo ICWs are only 22lbs.
Also, with the current craze of "bigger is better," 17" tires in the proper size are cheaper than 16" wheels in the proper size, *and* I can get 215mm wide tires in a number of different styles. The selection of 215/50 or 215/45 in a 16" tire is very, very limited. 215/45 or 215/40 in a 17" is very common.
I don't think the rotors look "lost" in the wheel (like a Honda Civic with 18" wheels), but they definitely could be bigger. Maybe someday I'll put a big brake kit on the car, but quite honestly the intent was never to build it for real performance, just safe & enjoyable for spirited driving. :)
