Hmm,, thanks for this one. I don't remember seeing anythink on it, though it is obvious that it's been said before onthe board.
I already installed the shaft before seeing your post, bergen. What I did was coat a bit of axle grease in the shaft bearing at the flywheel. I also put a very light coat of assembly lube on the shaft itself. Now that I read your reasoning I'm wondering if I should disassembe and regrease the shaft with a light bit of moly.
I misunderstood the purpose opf the grease, I figured it was to make the isertion of the shaft easier, so I used a very light coat on the shaft using pre assembly lube..
