I have swapped the transmission covers on 5 speeds to change from a hydaulic cover to a to a solid mount on the race cars, starting with the 1986 one, plus a 1987, plus doing transmission swaps for client cars including one for BIGSAGE. If you remove the cover and swap from one to the other, in either direction, all you need at that point is either a hydralic mount and it's one bolt and washers, or the solid mount and it's strap that holds it to the cover with two bolts and the metal mount that attaches it to the body mount that is the same for either mount. There *are* two different hangers for the solid mount (the newer one is in my picture - all the old style ones *broke*), you'd want to get the newer one that has curved rather than 90 degree angles as the 90s were prone to breaking. Tom Townsend pointed this out to me after I replaced two on client cars. As to the gasket, it's been my experience that it comes off with the cover, use some 518 anerobic to seal it back on and you are good to go. do *not* use formagasket or silicon seal!

Also, most if not all of the autoboxes used the solid front mount. I just pulled a 1988 apart and it can be seen in the link. We put that engine on a five speed in the race car. The red car is a 1987 c900 8V five speed, the white car is a 1988 c900 16vT autobox. Both of the chassis bolt ups are the same. I have a picture of the hydraulic mount on the transmission on the chassis mount somewhere and will update it.

I used to have all of these pictures and many more on Saabnet but I kept doing something wrong when managing them and after killing all of the links twice to about 200 pictures, and then having to reload them, I will post them on my website instead. Still working on them but expect to have them up in a week or so.
