there is a spring activated switch which closes with sufficient weight placed upon the cushion mother in law or greater- once you have determined that that is functional, do a continuity test on the plug going to the wiring loom at a temp below 50 degrees (use a freezing spray or if removed place in freezer or wait for a cold day). There should be continuity with thermistor closed. If that is ok then you need to check voltage at the source - with your dash switch turned full on. Check for 12 volts.

If everything checks out thus far you have a break in the wiring loom - easy to fix - hard to access - check site for how to.
