so i picked up a car, 1990 900T 5spd. it's proving to have all sorts of issues, hence his new name of the sodding bastard.

newest issue is the catalytic converter was cut out of it, and they cut the flanges off the pipes when they welded in a straight pipe.

1) so, new complete exhaust system from manifold/head pipe gasket on back. i figure i'll replace the manifold/head pipe studs while i'm at it to be safe. what part number or type are they? any removal suggestions/hints?

2) the missing cat i'm a little confused on what to replace with. both eeuro and saabsite list replacements, but both list different sizes (lengths). i've read posts about them being shorter, but is one better than the other from either place, and how much of an issue is the shortness regarding possible exhaust leaks and/or banging/clattering from interference with body?

3) how difficult is it to remove the exhaust manifold from the engine? i've got one broken stud, so while i'm at it, figured i'd replace all those as well. do i need to remove the turbo from the exhaust manifold? is it relatively simple to pull whole assy away from block and remove/replace studs/spacers/mani gasket? again, any tricks or tips?

4) should i get all the parts and just deliver them to a muffler shop to install the whole mess since they'll have heat/whatnot to aid removing stubborn stuck studs? any guesses on book time or how long labour would be?

thanks in advance all,
mark :-)
