Another tip, I actually pack the inside of the seal, where the spring is, with petroleum jelly. I figure this will hold the spring in when I'm tapping the seal in. It is probably overkill, but I'm always thinking the spring is going to fall out. The spring has never fallen out for me when installing a seal, so, maybe it does work.
