1988 900S, 16 valve, 5 spd, 175k miles
Long Version:
I had another problem that developed while dealing with the erratic idle problem. When I hard cornered around bends or turning into an intersection I was getting hesitation and stumbling. Last week the engine cut out three times on me with the tach dropping like a rock. Finally, it wouldn't start. The hall sensor connection on my distributor had epoxy repairs by the previous owner. They came undone but I couldn't work with it. I installed a rebuilt distributor. The car has started right up on the coldest days this week and runs great. However, the erratic warm idle remains a problem. The check engine light was off for awhile but then came back on steady, yesterday and this morning.
I checked the EZK connections on the driver's side fender and wrote down the Bosch numbers as follows from the unit: Bosch 0 227 400 127, and underneath Made in Germany 7588544. Interestingly enough, my car's 7588544 does not match the 7484504 listed on Saabnet for my 16 valve non-turbo. I can't find any additional info on it. Can anybody weigh in on this for me regarding the mismatched numbers? I'm now wondering if this EZK unit was replaced before I bought it and whether or not it has the right one in it. Your help and input is greatly appreciated.
