the new euro half shafts one buys for 80 buxs with brand new outer c.v.joints and new tri-pods are set up different (on the end of the axle shaft at the tri-pod)
what i said about removal going smooth is hinging on the car having the oem saab axles still installed being only 1 c-clip is holding the tripod.
however most 900 drivers are buying those new axles from eeuro and replacing their oem saab axles with them,.. what are they called,...(the emp half shafts??) my memory sucks, anyhow those tripods on the after market axles are a pain to get off, its guarded by 2 c-clips, one of which is under the tripod itself, and only way to get to it is by removing the crappy tin c-clip that sits just in front of the tripod, after its removed the tripod can slide down the axle an inch (toward the outer c.v.)
reviling the c-clip that was underneath the tri-pod, after its removed the tripod can then slid off the back of the axle.
after which pulling the boots off is a cake walk, just a tip, getting the outer boot to slide down the oem axle is easier if one uses the old c.v. joint grease to lube the axle shaft being the oem shaft is fatter then the outer c.v. boots ring. lubing the axle shaft makes the outer boot slide right off. i just hope this guy don't have the e.m.p. half shafts, they are a pain.
on a side note, removing and installing a new outer c.v. joint on a axle shaft dose takes a little bit of finesse, i about threw my new c.v. joint down the road so it could be ran over by a truck. :)
