depending on how mechanically inclined u are Posted by vvack0matic [Email] (#1443) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vvack0matic) on Thu, 7 Jan 2010 09:12:12 In Reply to: More on CV Boots, RC, Thu, 7 Jan 2010 08:36:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
a d.i.y.er can replace a boot in about 2hrs the boot itself costs what...
2buxs,.. or maybe its 4dollars, just replacing the boot gives the opportunity to repack the c.v. grease also, doing this the joint should last a good long time,. however
depending on how long the boot has been split, is how long the joint was driven on with-out grease, if your not noticing any strange sounds or feeling a tug on the steering wheel while driving the joint may still be good, do the boot and repack the c.v. grease and it should last well into the ages.
then again, if you are not going to do the job your-self and the car goes to the mechanic to get the boot done foul play in not repacking the c.v. joint grease is always possible which will have your car back in the shop before the end of 3months.
that's why most of us driving a classic 900 were pretty much forced to become a do it yourself-er. with the help of this bb. any job that needs to be done on the car one can gather loads of info about the subject at hand which makes the repair cheap and in a quick timely manner and when the d.i.yer is finished the driver can rest at ease that the repair was done correctly.
