Basically, if all that is wrong with your axel is one or both of the boots, you are better off replacing the boot and reinstalling it. As someone else mentioned, the rebuilt axels are rebuilt by enlarging the holes in the CV joint. That is problematic because the holes were originally hardened. boring them out does away with the hardening process. You also have to be careful of the quality of the work, which can be really good or really bad.
If your axel needs the outer joint, you can either buy a rebuilt complete axel, which which will save you time and money, or buy a new outer joint from Lobro and fix your axel. A new OE joint will outlast a rebuild by 3-4x. I've seen rebuilds start to make noise again in as little as 10k.
