tz,
1) I use my drill press or hydraulic press to compress the clutch cover and remove the tool (ST), otherwise place the clutch cover on the ground under a car and place a jack on the cover positioned as if you were trying to lift the car. As you work the jack instead of the car rising the cover spring will be pressed down and you can then remove the ST.
2) Yes. Assemble and bleed the hydraulics and once fully bled you'll be able to remove the ST while having someone stand on the clutch pedal.
3) Of course what you want is an old worn out layshaft that you get for free. If you can't get one from a local Saab indy I guess I could loan you one (I'll need your address).
4) eEuro shows an SKF pilot bearing and you won't do better than that. Most (or all) of the bearings in our 900s were SKF originally. I've had good luck with all the aftermarket clutch parts from site sponsors (so far).
5) Sachs is excellent for a daily driver clutch. I wouldn't be surprised to get the OEM Saab clutch kit and find that it was made by Sachs.
When you replace your turbo pipes be sure to tighten the clamps securely or the first time you boost a pipe will blow off a boot and it's a rude experience although easily fixed.
Good luck
