If the fluid is junk when you drain it, you may want to clean up the trans.
If you are really nice, you can us ATF and be very gentle on the trans.
All you want to do is get the trans hot a few times until it gets dirty.
Drain it and maybe do it again. ATF will clean it out really nice.
Run some dino for about 2k then get the good stuff.
The problem with putting good fluid in a dirty trans is you end up with good dirty fluid after the trans get cleaned up. This will get you a clean trans.
I live in Atlanta and use a combo of:
1/2 qt lucas oil stabilizer
1 1/2 qt redline MTL
1 qt oil (I use the extra 20-50 Mobile 1 from the oil changes).
I check it every oil change and swap it when it's dirty or 20k.
Mine shifts fine over freezing and a little tight below that for a few minutes.
You'll get 20 more opinions at least!!
Just get the trans clean, use good fluid and keep it clean.
If it smells burnt, it's the wrong juice. Not thick enough.
If it doesn't get dirty, it's the wrong juice. Not enough detergents.
If you can't shift it, it's the wrong juice. Too thick.
I haven't had any trans problems in the 4 or 5 Saabs I run this in.
Hope this helps.
Carl
