Fuel Pump Situation on '89 SPG, update Posted by EverettDave [Email] (#1894) [Profile/Gallery] (more from EverettDave) on Thu, 13 May 2010 23:43:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Jon, thank you very much for the valuable classic 900 e/e grounds pics and info. I will check each out this weekend. After thorough market search for a reasonable price fuel pump, tonight I ordered the NAPA unit for $214, be here in 5 days, so I will report the results then. If it isn't the precise replacement, I can go for the $366 unit from Scanwest or eEuroparts.
Feeling grumpy about the hastle removing the knee bolster for pump relay check and replacement, and as a former Boeing 747 tech designer, I have to ask whether anyone has successfully trimmed the back corners of that furshlugginer bolster to provide relay access. Once I have it out, I intend to study the possibility of trimming away enuf of the right rear conrer to permit a hand up to the relays. I wish Saab had thought of this first. Second plan is to study cutting the bolster at each side of the cubby and adding a fastener there to allow both right and left sides of the bolster to be removed independently for under dash work. I welcome your thoughts and guffaws.
Finally, I have managed to complicate the fuel pump job by shattering the rear glass when I abruptly tried to close the hatch WITH THE PRIVACY PANEL STILL IN THE UP POSITION. Just juggling too many life concerns at the same time, and I know you all have been there too. Dumb! Glad I have comprehensive glass coverage for this example of "vandalism" .
