My 93 NA 16 valve w 195K miles idles quite well at about 700 or 800 RPM - it's not low for these cars. I can't advise you on how to fix low oil pressure other than to say check the pressure sensor first. These are usually the first thing to fail.

I can offer some advice on getting the engine back up to proper running. I'm most of the way through a major fuel system and oil system cleaning. I pulled the injectors and had them cleaned and tested by a specialty shop. I did two intake cleanings (seafoam and distilled water) and multiple fuel system flushes (Techron concentrate, BG44K, and Gumout Regane) and just started a lengthy oil system flush using AutoRX. These have had a significant improvement in how my engine runs, mostly due to the injector cleaning. Having a set of balanced, proper spray pattern injectors really makes the engine run smooth, at top performance, and helps eliminate pinging at low RPM. The intake and fuel cleanings made small but noticeable differences in low end torque as well. I'd recommend doing the injector cleaning first, followed by either the Techron concentrate or Regane fuel cleaning. If the fuel system cleaning hasn't been done on a regular basis, a second treatment may be required. The intake cleaning (done by sucking the fluid into the intake manifold via a vacuum while the engine is running) is fun because of the smoke it produces but probably won't have a big effect on running unless it's really gunked up.

You'll have to judge whether or not you want to do the oil system cleaning based on what you see under the valve cover and the sounds the engine is making. An oil system flush may help improve your oil pressure situation by cleaning the screen, uptake tube or cleaning out clogged passages. I can't say from experience what's the best oil system cleaner since I've only just started on my AutoRX treatment. It's likely to take 5-6K miles to finish before I'll know. You might try the BG oil system cleaner if you want quick results but it's a solvent based cleaner so be careful and use according to instructions.
