So my room mate bought a 92' 900 N/A on the cheap with the last of his money, and after a 3+ hour trip from the seller with no problems at all 4th gear started clunking rhythmically. Long story short, it instantly destructed leaving all the teeth scattered through the box. We cleaned out all of the metal bits, but its obvious the remainder of 4th gear is chattering around the shaft and needs to be removed. So is it possible to pull the remainder of 4th and just leave it out of the box, or is it better to just find a used tranny and swap it? I fully understand the process, but any hints or experience would be helpfull..
