How to Tell Early and Late Reverse Idlers in Hand Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Tue, 10 Aug 2010 21:46:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just picked up a decent 92na 5 speed. Only problem is the PO roached reverse. When I got it it would barely back up. It would jump in and out of gear when backing up. A quick linkage mod got it to back up pretty well albeit with clacking noise and a slight tendency to jump out. A visual shows both main and idler damaged. The idler has a couple teeth that are really bad. In a box I have the internals of a 91. Teeth look pristine. The problem is there are 2 reverse idlers in the box. I think the extra is from a 93 but I'm not certain I'd love to pop one of those idlers into the clacking 92. Are there distinguishing marks on the idlers that would tell early from late?
