I get it on both sides in the plains. Killer heat this summer + cold winters. Pulling a starter in an open parking lot at -5 is not fun on the turbos. But it was a balmy 15 when I got it back from the shop. We have a great, inexpensive elec motor shop in town. $37 and it needed a lot more than cleaning and brushes. Not a problem in 2 years with it.
If you're used to heat, it generally goes ok - but it was pretty ridiculous the last month. Keeping my tools under a heavy piece of cardboard was a minor stroke of brilliance.
And, yeah - I think cold tools are worse than hot. You just can't do anything about it when you have to work outside.
