Thanks. I put in the new Throttle Position Switch (TPS) and made sure the continuity works for idle position and wide open throttle (WOT). I also put in a new dashpot because when coming to a stoplight, the idle drops and almost stalls. The old dashpot was crapped out.
Although the new TPS had perhaps made minor improvements -- the idle has held steady here and there for a few minutes at a time -- it is still fluctuating between 800 and 900 rpms. I also cleaned the ground wires near the intake manifold and also near the radiator. Didn't seem to make a difference.
Again, the AIC valve looks to be new. I sprayed some WD-40 in it. The flap inside moves freely.
I guess I can find a known good AMM and swap that in and see what that does. I am also going to poke around for vacuum leaks. Perhaps the turbo bypass valve is a culprit (It does hold vacuum on the small hose). The central vents on the AC don't work so that might be one small source. Another thing I did notice is the engine oil dipstick: I unscrewed the cap and the car kept running. On my 8 valve when I do that the car stalls out.
