Thanks Cmyles
I'm very sure the short block is in excellent shape with the exception of seals/o-rings and gaskets. I'm not planning on removing the pistons at this time, I suppose I will look at one the rod crank journals and bearing shells and post a picture if I can as an example of wear.
If I do remove the crank and pistons I may well take the rotating assembly,( crank, rods, pistons, crank pulley and flywheel) in for dynamic balance and polish up the crank journals. New piston rings are a very good idea if I do this.
If I purchase bearings I will let you know if a trade is good. On the broken 5 speed I'm not sure what is wrong, It is in neutral and will not shift into any gear. The previous owner stated the case had cracked while driving sporty in 5th. I'm not sure if it was low on lube or what, it was said the oil ran out on the ground before towing it back where it sat for a few years.
If the transmission case is cracked, you can have the transmission if you pay the crating and shipping. The engine should be out this weekend. I'm waiting on my Haynes manual for the transmission rebuild/inspection for the 900S unit, my new gearbox.
I suppose I will also clean the engine bay and have a look at the suspension.
have a great weekend.
