Weak coil = bad gas mileage?

Have had poor gas mileage for the past couple of months - normally got 25-26 mpg, now 20-22. Compression is good, spark plugs are good, just changed distributor rotor and cap (they were quite worn and cap terminals heavily oxidized). I tested the coil, the primary resistance is 1.2-1.3 ohms (terminals 1 and 15) compared to the Bentley spec of 0.5-0.9 ohms.
Could this difference be enough to weaken the spark and cause my fuel consumption issue? Should I replace the coil?
