I cannot imagine how you work on your SAAB without a 17mm and an 18mm in at least three different configurations...get some bigger wrenches...
As for the nuts you're talking about, It is a heck of a lot easier to first pull off the turbo hoses (two hose clamps if you pull it from the turbo outlet and the intake manifold...and pull the intercooler and tubes as one piece).
Then its a ton easier to get the flywheel cover off too (about 3 10mm bolts into the tranny and block).
The bolt screwing into the square bolt supporting the intake manifold needs to be loosened.taken off.
Other than that bugger, its two screws that go into the flywheel shroud. bugger is getting a socket onto them.
Don't take the intake manifold off, even though it may be tempting. you'll need a new gasket and to clean that surface off, and gas lines too. kinda gets involved.
Good luck. how do you know your starter is shot?
