Hi thanks for the reply. The oil was leaking from the piston behind the passenger. There is sufficient fresh oil under the cylinder area to indicate that it came from the cylinder. As the system was half enpty of oil, I decided to pull the cylider and check it manually first. I can not move the piston even putting most of my weight on it , so I am assuming that the piston has siezed and that the excessive resistance caused a fitting to give (is that a good assumption).
I would like to have some experienced guy tell me what the next step should be.
I have plans to pull the whole system out tomorrow because Bently suggests that the best way to bleed is with the whole system out of the car.(and I can compare the resistence of the two cylinders)
If the second cylinder is easy to move manually, then I know the cylinder (passenger) has siezed. Now what do I do?
Can a non-professional repair these cylinders?
Thanks for any input.
