I've had three headliners, four sets of door cards, three sunroofs, and a few other parts done with 3M and various other adhesives (I've tried pretty much all of them by now, I think). Most of the time, the headliner does not stay up for long. I've heard there is a big difference between the 1/4" headliner material that you can purchase at a fabric store, and the OEM headliner fabric. I found a source for 1/8" which I've heard is OEM, but have not tried it yet. Anyone used that before? I'm sure being half the weight would make a large difference.

My SPG had perfectly not-sagging original headliner when I bought it. However, it was badly stained and had two small cuts in it that revealed the black interior foam. Big time eye sore. I tried taking it out of the car and dying it without removing the fabric. Worked like a charm. Now I have a new-looking black headliner. No stains. Tough to find the dye though. It was a black spray-on fabric dye in large cans. Left a grainy texture for the first couple of months, but now it is nice and soft with no fading at all. The sunroof got new black fabric and I dyed the handles and sunroof-surround rubber with black shoe polish. Even painted the backs of the sun visors. It all blended very well and looks beautiful even after two years.
