Perfect for a bedtime story....I drove an 87 SPG from Vegas to SW Colorado and it was running pistol hot. Had to drive through the desert with the heater on, and windows open to keep it from overheating.
I got to SW Colorado and flushed out the system the next day. When checking the small return line to the expansion tank, I found that the prior owner/mechanic had not taken off the protection plug from the small nipple on the radiator. It wasn't getting any return to the tank from the radiator.....the rad hoses were getting pig fattened up from all the pressure....once the return was clear to the tank the overheat was solved.
Remember also that if you have a turbo car, and you are on the boost going up hills, the timing retards, and that heats it up as well.
