after testing a few check valves with a calibrated pressure pump today I found that the one I had in my car held about 1 psi (completely failed) and the other 2 held plenty of pressure , but gradually let it go at the rate of about 1 psi per 10 seconds . I have had 3 boosters fail in 2 years and nobody I communicated with (including my excellent indy) nor I could figure out why . thanks to jeff cullen suggesting the valve as the source of my problem , I believe I now have the answer . I put in one of the better valves I had , but do not have full confidence in it due to the previous one of the same age failing and that the better ones were letting a little pressure escape (maybe this is the precursor to failure) . Since boosters are now hard to find and c900 owners will probably have to start sending them to rebuilding shops , I think its important that people know there are failed valves out there and it seems possible they can gradually kill a booster . If its true the dealer is the only source for new valves and they actually want $80 for them , this is a crappy situation because c900 owners might decide to take there chances with old valves rather than pay a ridiculous price for a little piece of plastic on the chance that leaving the old valve in might cause their booster to fail .
