The piece on the bottom of the distributor shaft that engages the end of the camshaft has two tabs that fit into a channel on the end of the exhaust cam. If you look at it from the bottom, you'll see that the tabs are offset to one side--not on the centerline. Mark the end of the distributor shaft with a sharpie, so that you put it back on the same way.
The pin that holds that piece to the shaft will be a bitch to remove. DON'T STRIKE IT, you need to press it out in a bench vice or other press. A hardened steel pin of a slightly smaller diameter should do the trick.
I don't have the special puller, so to get the slotted rotor off the shaft, I went in through the holes in the side of the distributor case with a couple flat bladed screwdrivers on opposing sides and pried it up.
