If you look at the oe clamp the slots or threads are not punched out like the after market. When you tighten the aftermarket clamp the hose will be squeezed out through the slots and the clamp screw will cut this off, damaging the hose. The oe clamp screw never touches the hose. The oe clamp has the edges beveled as well which helps prevent the clamp from cutting into the hose as you tighten it.
One thing about the oe clamp i cant figure out is why are some clamp joints blue and some are red ?some have no colour at all ? Some are galvanized and some are chromate ?red for hot coolant blue for cooled ?Red for fuel blue for coolant ? not sure.
I,m guessing its a SAAB habit. All tubes, pipes or lines on an aircraft has to have some sort of mark or colour code to denote whats in it.
