The problem you describe is usually caused by a bad alternator ground. SAAB in their infinite wisdom decided to insulate the alternator from the engine with rubber mounts. This means the body of the alternator actually needs to be grounded to the engine. This is accomplished with that little black wire that goes to the lower bolt on the A/C compressor bracket. Often times it is missing/broken, or messed up in some way that prevents it from making a good ground. If I were working on your car the first thing I would do would be to run a proper gauge ground wire from the alternator to one of the dipstick mounting bolts on the intake. This will take the questionable ground out of the equation. I know you said the grounds are good, but I have seen this problem more times than I can shake a stick at.
