Thanks for your help, all!
I am still driving this car but only able to make short trips. The batt. light comes on with ignition on and goes out once with engine is started but still only making 12v at the battery and alternator. I checked all of the grounds and even used a jumper cable to ground the alt. body to engine block casting. Green and white wire seems to be getting 12V to excite the alt when the ignition is on. Why the batt. light goes out is a real mystery but now I'm thinking that I might be short somewhere in the system. I tried a brand new voltage regulator (aftermarket) and this had no impact. Tried a used BOSCH regulator and had the alt. making 14v for about 10 min. and then back down to batt. voltage. Has anyone had probs with the aftermarket regulators?
Also get the same voltage (12.4 volts) at the alternator and this is the same at the battery.
Thanks again for all of your help!
