5th gear support bearing-years? Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Tue, 3 Jul 2012 16:19:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It seems that over the years there has been differing thoughts on what years the turbo trans had the extra 5ht gear bearing in the chain cover. Here is some more info on that subject. Sunday I pulled a 5 speed from a 88 turbo at the U-pull-it. (BTW the delight of the day was when Cliff Quan wandered into Saab section. A complete surprise. Got to see his beautiful 88 SPG!!!). The trans I pulled is a 556 02 with the chain cover for a hydraulic motor mount. That is the correct model trans for that car per the listings I've seen. The car has relatively low miles and the engine and trans show no sign of being molested. I pulled the chain cover this morning and it has the extra bearing.
