Hey guys, here's one I've been poking at for a while. '90 SPG 215k. Awesome shape overall, but the last owner really messed with it. Swapped in a rebuilt tranny from another '90 SPG. I don't think he swapped the inner drivers tho.
The car shakes hard when accellerating at any speed. It's a slower shake, not like the quick softer shake of inner drivers. Happens more often too. Sometimes shakes a little at interstate speeds with no accelleration. Then, always when I start cold in the morning, I can feel the passenger side wheel bumping up and down slightly as if it were way out of balance or there were something inside the wheel. Not as noticable after a few minutes. I've tried different wheels and tires and they still do it, and swapped the shakers onto a different car and there was no shake. Replaced tie rod ends, took out CVs and replaced boots (CV seemed fine), ball joints all seem connected. Upper control arm bushings were totally shot on the pass side when I got the car. Like nothing left of them. I did an emergency swap and put in a set of used ones (forgot that you have to tighten them down under load tho). Now have a new set of bushings and plan to swap those soon. Any other ideas what it could be? It's been suggested that it may be the whole hub or bad ball joints.
Also when backing out of the driveway every morning, there is a huge CLICK from the passenger side as if something is shifting heavily into or out of place.
