As I understand it these early Saab's with Air Mass Meters need the Bypass ("Dump") valve to recirculate so the AMM knows exactly what's going on. I don't think venting the valve to atmosphere would cause your "no power" problem so you may have a bad valve as when they go bad when you let off coming to a stop the car will die! If you have a Mity-Vac hand pump just check your valve to see if it holds pressure and go from there. If you get another Bosch unit make sure to get the one that ends in 110 (first seen in Viggen's). If a 110 is hard to find I have a like new used one I took off of my 900 when I went with Hyper Boost adjustable billet aluminum valves on all of my Saab's!
