Good call. I'll try that tomorrow. For now I'm just driving it lightly 2 miles to work in the mornings. Chris, there is no rust anywhere on the car. What worries me is that the PO called himself a mechanic but did rush jobs. I think he must have had this engine out at some point and I've definitely found some funky stuff - like last week I found the lower control arm nut backed all the way out. Like about to fall off. Also found one of the two nuts missing from the clutch master where it comes thru the firewall. Also found the harness that feeds the cooling fans was not put together correctly, so the wires were crossed and would blow the fuse every time the fan came on. Oh, then there was oil in the coolant... and the brake fluid res... and in the power steering res. I think this guy must have just used the same funnel for all fluids or something. Or thought 10W30 was a universal cure-all. That said, the car is still in awesome shape. It really wouldn't surprise me if it is a loose nut somewhere. I've been checking everything i possibly can.
The other thing is that he did rebuild the tranny himself. Said he pulled it out the bottom and suggested never doing that. It works great, but again, there are some funky things and stuff not fully pout back together.
