Parts car nice, but not necessary Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Sat, 8 Sep 2012 20:39:49 In Reply to: Re: Suggestions, Robster501 [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 8 Sep 2012 14:32:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a whole 8x10 foot shed filled with spare parts, but have never had a parts car. My wife would never tolerate the presence of a whole car - although I've been able to have one for a short while (couple of weeks) in order to partially strip it (made a deal with a guy who wanted the engine when I was in need of a transmission); got to take a lot of other stuff as part of the deal. But a good set of all of the fuel system parts is very helpful in trouble shooting. Just swap out each part as you acquire it to be sure it is good, before storing it away.
I browse FleaBay 2-3 times a day using a dedicated search, and just wait until I see a really cheap price then order it (good way to acquire parts that change from vehicle to vehicle, like an ECU ( I think I paid $75 for it). You also will get a really good idea of what the market value of a given part is (or should be). I've got 4 Mitsy turbos and have never paid more than $175.
