My cars are a little newer, so maybe you have different wheel/tire specs? Mine are supposed to be 34psi iirc, but I prefer to run 36psi since we load the car a bit. 30 sounds low. I've never had over-inflation wear patterns on my tires - if anything the opposite, but mainly the outside edges of the front wheels wear first.
Townsend says Merc coolant or Saab blue work equally well. But Saab blue coolant is becoming unobtanium (I think even BMW is dropping it?), so the easiest stuff to get is Merc coolant which = Zerex G05... Having dealt with a bad hg, I made the switch... don't use the green crap... there is not any significant cost difference...
Radiator fans - I'm running an 82 degree tstat and 82 degree fan switch (as per Townsend) in both c900s. works great (I'm also from the Great White North). test the fans to see if they run. if both are ok check that your tstat temperature and fan switch temperature are the same (that can cause post-highway lag)... then if you are still overheating, maybe your radiator is getting old/clogged? that's a pretty easy repair...
