I can't quite bring myself to get rid of my 84T. She currently needs a lot of rust repair and any reasonable person would scrap her. I plan to patch her up and get "one more year" out of her.
CIS can be finicky, I think the key is to buy (or make) the right type of fuel pressure gauge and follow the proper troubleshooting procedures. Replacement fuel injection parts are essentially impossible to buy new so you have scrounge good used which can be dicey. However other than the auxiliary air valve most of the stuff is pretty robust if it is a running car that was being driven regularly.
Also as a pre-88 it has the much hated early style front calipers. Other than that it is mostly normal Saab stuff the breaks.
I think flat nose 900s are cool and you don't see many at the conventions. I like to drive mine. For in-town driving it is my favorite of all of mine. Although HP is about the same as a 16V N/A, the 8V turbo is more fun.
All that being said, if a fellow Saab nut wanted to buy mine as a parts car so that another 8V Turbo could live I would sell her. I just don't want to scrap her or sell her to a redneck on craigslist.
