If the car was twisted in the wreck, could you have it straightened as much as possible (at least the front half) to make sure you will be straight all the way through once you combine the two halves?
I'd think you'd want to cut and weld at the floor just in front of the rear door jamb to give you the flatest and easiest area to cut and weld?
Obviously bracing and supporting the two halves while welding would be the most critical as any differences in length would affect top and door fastening/positioning.
Other than that, if you have the space and the welding experience, I'd guess it was doable. Afterall, they cut and weld clips off of other cars, so why wouldn't it be an option? As long as you're not having to cut fenders and/or welds, it seems like it would be relatively straight forward?
