H4, 9003 & 9004 bulbs & wattage.... Posted by Baggsly [Email] (#2350) [Profile/Gallery]

So, I have an '87+ car with 9004 bulbs as stock, 60/55 W.
From various readings, I understand that the H4 and 9003 are interchangable, but the H4 has more precise filament placement requirements.
I broke the handy little plastic tube headlight adjusters on my car (scraped a wall), so I'm going to put an E-code light on the r/h side until I get the aluminum adjusters from the Saabsite. At least that will let me salvage the old headlight frames!
My question is: I bought 9003 bulbs (not paying attention, oo 50% more light...). They are 67/60 W bulbs. Can I use these without harm to the stock headlight plug wiring since they are a higher high beam wattage?
I am kind of curious as to what it will look like running an E-code on the r/h side and a sealed beam on the l/h side will look like as well. I'll let you know on that.
So, ok to use the "higher" wattage 9003 bulbs, or should I trade those in for standard 60/55 W H4 bulbs?
Thanks for any answers!
Mark :-)
