Actually as good of material as the early Saab turbo blocks are made out of there probably wont be a noticeable ridge! Now days with CNC machining forged pistons aren't really that much more expensive than the original cast ones even if they were still available. Also don't ever bore a cylinder to their max especially in a turbo application as the last thing you need is thin cylinder walls! Also the difference in HP from a .25mm OS piston to a 1mm or 1.5mm OS one would be negligible! Running too lean would ruin a forged piston the same as a cast piston however with a forged piston you can run lots more boost. There's no such thing as an oversize 2.0 piston that's just under the 2.1 as a 2.1 piston is a whole 3mm larger than a 2.0 piston! You can however go to a 2.1 block using a custom piston to get your compression ratio correct for your turbo! By the way a proper forged piston doesn't require so much clearance that they will be noisy on cold start! Most forged piston manufacturers offer a low expansion rate piston that along with modern day skirt coating makes it possible to run near stock clearances. Here's a link that explains this and more! http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/performance/index.html?bID=127182
