Overheat last night - what to check?

My '94 T Convertible overheated last night on the way home. All coolant is lost. Still don't know whether I lost a hose, water pump leak or radiator leak. Not in the crankcase...oil level is normal. Haven't been able to check it out in the daylight yet.
Temp gauge was pegged above the red. Not sure how many miles I drove with it that way but pulled off as soon as I saw it and had a tow home. After I let it cool down I was able to start it and back it up so it could get loaded on the flatbed tow. No engine stumbling, no strange noises when it is running so that gives me hope that nothing was damaged.
I am going to have it towed to my mechanic tomorrow for repair.
This a very well cared for car with 220K miles. Daily driver on an 80 mile roundtrip commute.
Anything I should lookout for after an overheat? Have a good mechanic who will check it out very well but looking for any other experiences and input from folks here as well.
Thanks!
Todd N
