I agree with both of you:
This Valvoline stuff SHOULD be DOT 4 compliant, so why not just label it as DOT 4? (my guess: a marketing strategy so that they can sell it to the guys looking to buy DOT 3) But the dual labeling doesn't make me any more comfortable, it just seems kinda 'slimey', like used car sales tactics to me.
I guess I'll look for something different, either Castrol or ATE or Pentosin, & reflush everything. My biggest concern was that it was an indicator of a current problem or pending failure. (I've never had it spill out of the sealed reservoir cap before!)
Let me know if you think of anything else that might be a problem.
