For whatever it's worth (and I'm far, far from an expert)...
Looking at the diagrams in Bentley, it seems (as I suspected) that the parking break and brake warning indicators don't have that much to do with
each other. The parking break light (47M) seems to be driven by the parking break switch (43) being grounded, the break warning (47F) goes off
to the ABS controller. There are diodes from each going to a common place,
not sure what they're for (lamp test at startup??? panel dimmer?).
If the parking break light is on with the parking break off, something
other than the switch is pulling the current through the light.
Unfortunately this hints at electrical problems behind the instrument
panel, an unpleasant thought.
