The seals we use at my Son's race engine shop are something he keeps an inventory of in all of the different stem sizes and then we cut the guide OD to fit. At the same time we make sure there's no interference when a higher lift cam is being used and correct that. If I remember correctly the 8V Volvo heads use a large diameter shim that fits on top of lifter bucket. The Saab 16V's lifter buckets being non-adjustable hydraulic's don't require an adjustment shim.
