Speaking about gear boxes, question for u C-Myles Posted by vvack0matic [Email] (#1443) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vvack0matic) on Tue, 18 Jun 2013 15:16:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had my spg's gear box rebuilt by a local indie and was advised to fill it up with oil so the new syncros don't rust being its going to be a few months before I get around to installing it. I asked why in the world would the syncros rust he said he sprayed them with carb cleaner and wasn't sure but just for precaution fill the trans. So no problem right. Well the gearbox is sitting in the gurage leaking oil like it was a wet sock. I went and shifted it trough the gears and every time it's shifted to 1st and 3rd it sounds like something inside slams into the back plate on the back side of the box.
This is a 88 box. With the small pinion, I really don't want to reinstall this tran's into the spg.. So question is a guy like you rebuilding these transmissions left and right wouldn't happen to have a rebuilt 89+ tran's in the shed that you'd want to part with?
