Just did that recently, good idea! We had a stubborn slave replacement job the other day and ended up cutting the damn thing in half! Another trick we've been using is to leave the pressure plate to flywheel dowels out until the clutch in being bolted back in place, just start the bolts then drive the dowels in and then tighten the bolts. This yields so much extra room that the whole assembly goes right in very easily! Now my next lightened flywheels (especially the ones converted for T5 and or a mid year 9000T 238mm clutch)) will have thread in dowels! There's just enough room below the dowel where the flywheel is not drilled all the way through for a 6mm Allen head cap screw 6mm x 1mm thread. I found some with the perfect shank diameter and length to cut just right for the thread area needed! I'll make them bottom out thread wise just as they barely tighten down against the pressure plate. My real good Anti-Seize will have to be used on the bolt's 6mm shank so no galling will occur when the new dowel is installed.
